Adding Webform Components

After you create a webform, you can add components. After you submit the webform configuration information, go the components page shown in Figure 13.20.

The process of adding a component is simple:

1. Enter the name of the new component, as shown in Figure 13.21.

2. Select the component type from the list. After you add the component, you can change everything except the component type.

3. Click Add to add the component. If you click Submit before you add the component, you will lose the data you have just entered (the name and the component type).

4. All components are stored in the submissions table. In addition, you can automatically generate email messages with the submitted data. In the form components section, you can use the Advanced Setting area to include a specific component in the emails that are generated, as shown in Figure 13.22. The default setting is to include all components, but in the case of lengthy forms, you may want to make the email messages more compact.

Webforms are an ideal way of structuring inbound communications, such as requests for help or information, suggestions for changes to the website, and the like.
